Host a story hour at your library
See You at the Library is a nationwide day of free story hours in public libraries. Hundreds of parents and grandparents host one in their own town. We send you the books and walk you through reserving the room.

Why this matters
The library belongs to your family too.
In 2023, more than fifty public libraries turned down Kirk Cameron's request to read a children's book about the fruit of the Spirit. He pushed back, and the libraries reversed course.
See You at the Library grew out of that. It is not a protest. It is families reading good books to their kids in a public building their taxes pay for. It only happens in towns where someone local books the room.

Common concerns
I have never hosted anything. Am I qualified?
Yes. Most of our hosts had never run an event before. You are reading picture books to children, not giving a speech.
How do I book a library space?
Call your library and say you would like to reserve a space to host a story hour for the community. They will take it from there. Expect questions about your date, time, and how many people you expect. Our email covers all of it.
What if my library has no room to reserve?
Ask the children’s department if you can read to a few families in the children’s area. A handful of kids on a rug is a real story hour.
What if October 3 is already booked?
Check other libraries nearby, or ask about a thirty minute window between events. Thirty to sixty minutes of reading is all this takes.
My library says no because BRAVE Books is a for-profit company.
This is not a company event. You are hosting as a patron of your own library, and you are not selling anything. We ask hosts to read any book of virtue, including ones already on the library shelves.
My library says it is political or religious.
Story hours carry no political content. Prayer and worship songs are optional, and skipping them changes nothing. You can tell your library you will not be leading religious practices, and offer to send them the books ahead of time.
My library requires me to belong to a local organization.
Common policy, easy fix. Partner with a local church, homeschool group, or nonprofit. Email us if you cannot find one and we will help.
My library charges for the room.
We cannot cover the fee, but hosts handle it every year. Ask a local business to sponsor the hour, or set out a jar with a QR code and let the room cover it.
